Cadmium
At present there is no effective therapy for cadmium poisoning, and treatment is supportive and symptomatic. It is hoped that some of the newer chelating agents may help in reducing cadmium levels in the body.

Cadmium
There is no known medical chelating method that is effective for the treatment of cadmium toxicity; however, DMSA may be used in cases of acute oral cadmium poisoning to help prevent additional absorption of cadmium in the gastrointestinal tract (Wentz 2000). Prevention or elimination of exposure is all that is available at this time for cadmium toxicity (ATSDR ToxFAQs for Cadmium).

Treatment At the present time, there is no effective clinical treatment for cadmium intoxication. In experimental systems some chelators can reduce acute cadmium-induced mortality (Klaassen et al.,1984), but chelation therapy for cadmium generally results in significant adverse effects.
